To commence that the semester has finally reached its closure, we were supposed to work on a video as well as another formal presentation on our report, based on the topic 'Computer & Internet Security/ Original & Licensed Software'.

There were several software recommended by Dr. Fariza to create a video, e.g. Powtoon etc; however we decided to go for Videoscibe. The features in this particular software were pretty much similar to the former one, but its simplicity and the sense of liberty it gave attracted us to give it a shot. Besides, we also had the slides prepared before the actual day of presentation.

Unfortunately, on the big day itself, Dr. Fariza was called out for an urgent meeting with the Faculty Dean, therefore our last session with her was 'cancelled'. In order to make way for proper presentation to take place after all of the hard work, Dr. Fariza had introduced us to Present.me to us whereby we could still have our presentation ( a virtual one ) regardless of the location and whereabouts.

We definitely had fun trying out all of these applications in Web 2.0. I would like to grab this opportunity to thank Dr. Fariza , for her guidance throughout this semester. I am certain enough to say that I learned new things during her classes. With her motherly warmth and funky personality, I never felt out of place each time.

Thank you Dr. Fariza <3

Greetings!

In today’s class, we had our hands on Microsoft Excel! No more messy timetables or crazy name list of 50 students with their marks for ten subjects got exchanged along the way.

Definitely one of the quickest way to tabulate your data.

We also learned some tricks to calculate the sum of the marks for each student and how to grade these fourty students simultaneously and swiftly. Apart from that, we also gained new knowledge on how to represent our data into the form of charts.

Check out on my Excel in the Assignment thread!

Thank you.

Assalamualaikum.

Following the progress of the previous assignments, it seemed like some of us have encountered a few complications especially on the formal report. In today’s session, Dr. Fariza has willingly agreed to coach us personally on the writing format herself. During our discussion with her, my team mate and I asked several questions regarding the detailing of our writing as well as the organization of the report.

Soon after, we did some readings through online journals and articles to gain an in-depth knowledge on our topic.

That’s all from me.

Thank you.

Hola! (that’s hello in Spanish)

Today’s highlight was the five basic elements in multimedia. They are; TEXT, GRAPHIC, AUDIO, VIDEO AND ANIMATION. As mentioned by Dr. Fariza, it is vital to consider all of these aspects when it comes to delivering your message when using multimedia.

·         TEXT will help you to get your message across and to help you to clear the confusion of your audience (if there is any).

·         GRAPHICS AND ANIMATION will enhance the quality of enjoyment throughout your presentation as well as to capture your audience’s attention.

·         VIDEO might help you to summarize or even speeds up the whole content and,

·         AUDIO would add in the sense of emotion and liveliness into your presentation.

Besides, Dr. Fariza has given us a quick look on the final assignment, which will be a video. Therefore, she requested us to apply this particular principle while producing the video.

It has been an interesting session today.

Thank you.

Greetings, fellow Earthlings!

I hope all of you are enjoying life as much as I did.  College life is challenging but hey, good things don’t come easy right? J

Okay, let’s get back to business. A not-so-new-but-still-new-to-me kind of discovery just took place in the computer class; DESKTOP PUBLISHING. These two words are closely related to the word ‘BROCHURE’, if I might add.

To be honest, that was my first time to actually explore what DESKTOP PUBLISHER was all about and I was so thankful I did (credits to Microsoft). Dr. Fariza once again has given us the liberty to summon our creative spirits up and make use of self-preferred templates for our brochure. Still remaining loyal to the previous topic, Licensed and Original Software/Internet and Computer Security, it is time to test our ability to fit the whole topic into a blank A4-sized paper interestingly. When you have lots of things to say, it was hard to keep things simple. However, I would like to take it as a challenge.

LESS IS MORE. Let’s get going, people!

Lots of love.

Assalamualaikum everybody!

Moving on to a new chapter, this week Dr. Fariza has introduced us to academic writing. As a university student, I have started to realize the importance of presenting your work in an organized manner, and academic writing is a way to go. Based on previous topic, we were assigned into groups again to present our findings in the form of a formal report. Here, Dr. Fariza has kindly coached us on how to complete this report.

From the introduction till conclusion, it has been a meticulous yet enlightening session.  Plus, I realized how significant it was to include references and to credit those references with manner. Here, the need to write in GAYA UKM started to make sense. After all, it is very disrespectful to take credits after someone else’s hardwork!

P/S: Quote of the day : “KEEP CALM AND START PANICKING.”

Thank you, Dr. F.

Wishing you health and lovely days,

Me.

Greetings!

As planned, we had our presentation session in the class today. During our turn, we managed to present our findings quite successfully, adding in a small discussion with our lovely course mates in the end. We looked deeper into computer and Internet security, as well as the importance to have original and licensed software installed into your computer. Gladly, we are know able to tell the differences between a virus, Trojan and a worm!

Later, Dr. Fariza kept the pace going by introducing us to Google Form. Say goodbye to time consumption or paper wastage as Google Form will do what it does best. We found that with just a set of suitable questions prepared beforehand, we can come up with our own questionnaire to conduct a mini research on the topic concerned efficiently. Google Form has provided us with a 'template' on how the question would be and how would you want your question to be answered. With only a click on the button, we could have a variety of questions with different forms and levels of difficulty.

After all, today's class had been  a great discovery. Shout-outs to our lovely instructor Dr. Fariza!
I really enjoyed this session. =)

Wishing great days ahead of you,

In conjunction to our lesson last week (Google Presentation), Dr. Fariza had introduced us to CASPER Principle. This principle is a necessity in producing a compact yet entertaining presentation, as we need to draw the audience's attention to the screen.

What is 'CASPER' though? Before Dr. Fariza further explained on this, the very first mental image of CASPER that i had in mind was this.

It was one of my favourite shows growing up. :)
However, the CASPER that we were talking about was this.

We decided to implement this principle into our slides. Hope we will be prepared to present on our topic next week. Wish us luck everybody!

Assalamualaikum everyone!

In today's class, we were introduced to Google Presentation, an online extension by Google to create slides for digital presentations. Google Presentation is quite similar to Microsoft Powerpoint, however this particular extension can only be used online. What I really love about Google Presentation is it comes with catchy templates and designs, an interesting alternative from the usual Powerpoint (some small changes won't do us any harm right). Besides, once we are done editing, our slides will be automatically saved into Google Drive. Therefore, I shall have no worries due to missing assignments anymore!
The only drawback I later realized was the need of a stable Internet connection to get this extension going.

Later, we were assigned to come up with a presentation on our own based on the topic given.
Ours was 'Original & Licensed Software - Computer & Internet Security'. We did some readings through online jurnals and articles to widen our knowledge on the topic concerned. Wish us luck!

Thank you everybody!

Assalamualaikum.
During our second class, we discovered the usage of Google Docs and Google Drive. Google Docs was a fascinating discovery for me; that we could work on a single document from different computers regardless of our current whereabouts. I could keep up with the team's performance in assignments as long as I have access to Google.
Besides, I also found out about Google Drive, which allows us to share our files online. This is a very useful method as we can access those files easily.
Plus, the class highlighted on Learning Management System (LMS)and Course Management System (CMS). We were assigned to compare and contrast these two terms by their functions and importance in learning. All in all, I am very pleased to discover new methods which could aid my learning process as well as to amplify my understandings as whole.

Thank you.
